Back to context engineering, I noticed several repos to reproduce Claude Code. Then OAI open sourced codex ... The natural fork here is to replace proprietary API call with API calls to open source models. What models do you will be able to do the job? Another idea is for Mac users with Apple silicon (M3 or M4). If they can run local inference with MLX models, then they get a free coding agent.
